GenerationBenz on form again. This time with a great example of how not to send a community reminder.

Hello Richard,

This is an automatic notification to remind you that you haven't logged into the Generation Benz community in the past 30 days.

Please note that our system will automatically close your account if you don't login within the next 30 days; however, you will always be welcome to continue your membership. We appreciate your time and hope you'll join us.

To remain active, simply log in to www.generationbenz.com.

Thank You,
Generation Benz Moderator

First, it’s too formal. Don’t call an automatic notification an automatic notification. It guarantees the rest of your message wont be read.

Second, give a reason to return to the community. What is the discussion I should be participating in? What are the upcoming events? What is the benefit to me to return?

Finally, don’t sign off as “Generation Benz Moderator”. I want to know who is e-mailing me. I want to know who is responsible. Who can I contact with questions? Where is the e-mail address and phone number below?
