Your Competition

If you succeed, you will have competitors.

Some of these competitors will try to compete by offering better user
experiences. Let them do this. Great websites don’t attract community members.
Exciting, fun, interesting communities attract community members.

Make sure your community is always more interesting, active, and
gratifying than any competitor. Let them spend their time (and money) on
building platforms filled with features members will never use. Focus your time
and money in making your community the most interesting place for its topic.

Aside, competition is good. It shows you’re doing something right. It
lets you narrow your focus and clearly define your identity against the
mainstream.
