  • Calendar application is missing common features, such as recurring events
  • Somwhat steep learning curve for developers

Star Rating Powerful and flexible with low TCO

Out of the box this platform is already very complete. It is logical and gives your community leaders the capability to engage they way they want. The real power comes alive when you get requests over time that you need to fill. Under the hood is everything you need to be a bit more exotic. It is extremely flexible and with some development resource this thing allows you to execute on your strategies like Employee Engagement, Branding, Leadgen, Innnovation or Customer Success in the most productive way.
Been using it for years in 2 companies (External and Hybrid Internal/External) and not the product nor the company has ever let me down. They are razorsharp with their own community and they have come true on that very single question you need to answer: "Do I trust you to be there when I need you?". That is what I call a bang for a buck. Extremely lean with great experience.

  • Built with the needs of the developer in mind without sacrificing the end-user experience
  • Thorough and responsive customer support
  • Calendar application is missing common features, such as recurring events
  • Somwhat steep learning curve for developers
  • When self-hosting, applying upgrades requires many manual steps, particularly with a customized UI

Telligent provide a great community platform that has been growing and evolving over the last decade.
The out the box experience provides you with a range of applications (including blogs, forums, media galleries, wikis, and ideas) that you can combine for different groups within your community. This combined with the other standard features gives the flexibility to make the community fit your users.
If you reach the limits of what can be configured out the box, the platform has a lot of developer extensibility points that can be used to alter or expand functionality or customise the design.

  • Most communities will want some amount of developer time to customise look and feel or features
  • Some of the customisation options aren't familiar to most developers, so can take a little getting used to

Star Rating Nothing Better Out There than Telligent

I have been a developer on Telligent for 9 years. I started working on the platform at Microsoft Dynamics where I was the lead developer for 8 years. I have since moved on and am working for another company on the Telligent platform.

This platform is a developer's dream. In my 9 years there has not been a single request the platform couldn't handle via their widget UX framework, theming or back-end plugin development.

It has a robust rules engine, realtime notifications, job scheduler, and too many other features to list. There is also a team of developers that is constantly improving the platform and coming out with new releases.

The online support community is also fantastic as Telligent makes it a priority to answer all the questions posted in their forums.

Star Rating A strong start.

We recently moved over from a legacy system and had become accustomed to poor service standards and costs at every turn.



  • Telligent / Verint, the individuals and teams we've worked with from the founder Rob to the day to day support staff have all been helpful, knowledgeable and great to work with.
  • The system itself we are still learning and perhaps training is an area which could improve so their clients can fulfill the potential of this great platform.

Star Rating A solid product

We've used Telligent for over one year now. Recommend getting a Developer on board to take advantage of all Telligent has to offer.

  • Aggregate activity reporting is fantastic
  • Rules engine is robust - we haven't taken full of advantage of it but plan to do so
  • Easy to use site
  • Limited to no individual member reports
  • Logic to add features to groups is a little funky - once you do it a few times it makes sense

Star Rating Great high-volume platform

Stable platform particularly good for large communities with a lot of traffic, content and groups. Good for customer communities, members orgs and internal communities (integrates with SharePoint). Good value.

  • Good pricing model - not expensive.
  • Reliable - doesn't fall over.
  • Easy to manage.
  • Not the most straightforward to configure.
  • All the essential features but if you want something extra you'll have to have it built.
