We are battling thru this right now with one of our communities. We get a ton of legit registrations but only a few that interact. We are trying to narrow down the ratio of registers vs engaged members so that we can have a baseline to start improving.

Awesome post – And I agree to the upmost – No need in adding any extra features is the problem lies with the features already in place. And who knows what the problem is without a proper analysis – You might just be adding more problems to the ones you already have.
