Another excellent post. You're so good, man.

I hear so few people that think in this way about community. Frankly, I'd rather be an active, vocal member of a small, exclusive community that is positive than someone who's shy among a giant, messy horde of Negative Nellies. So, that Hacker News jumping off point is perfect.

One thing that also might work that I've always wanted to see in action is a yearly membership whereby people have to be asked to return each year — which would probably be based on participation and contribution.
