This is an open post to you, beloved reader. I want to hear about what online communities you are working on right now.
If you’ve been lurking all these months, now is your time to step out and dazzle us with all the amazing work you have been doing.

I've got two communities I treasure: one-woman band (http://onewoman.ning.com/), gathering resources and support for women starting or running their own small business, and The Perfect Social Club (http://perfectly.ning.com/), focused on size acceptance and living in a plus size world. Yes, I'm one of your avid lurkers still struggling to get a grip on the total picture, and your posts have helped me to build the confidence to keep trying on both of these efforts.

I'm also emerging from my lurkitude to say that I really appreciate the Feverbee articles. My forum is basically an 'online living room' with a medieval faire theme~

...where we all gather to hang out and de-stress. The most popular feature is the theater, where I have a xat chat and we view cheesy movies and clips from Youtube every saturday night and make fun of them, a la Mystery Science Theater 3000 style. I have a small group of ultra loyal members who have become great friends in real life as well as online. The Faire is really small but I still feel like it's a success because the atmosphere is very friendly and relaxed. We also have a fan page on Facebook, and it has more fans than the Faire has members, which I find ironic! I think they're becoming fans of medieval faires in general, perhaps?

Keep up the great posts here at Feverbee, I love them!

Biznik is a community of entrepreneurs dedicated to helping each other succeed. Currently the community is making a documentary film about entrepreneurship - fundraising and everything. Pretty cool. We just released the first official trailer yesterday at http://biznik.com/shine/trailers - it's worth watching.

I really appreciate all of the ideas I get from FeverBee about online community management. Often I read your posts and then take action that same day.
I manage the DePaul Quad, an online community for parents and families of DePaul University students. We are coming up on our two year anniversary. The community continues to grow and thrive. It's been an exciting initiative.

I am applying Feverbee ideas to develop a network of hosts for international students. We already have the network, just trying to get them to interact more!

Sure wish I could edit my comment, as I made a bad error by placing the URLs in parentheses. They are http://onewoman.ning.com and http://perfectly.ning.com - and using the ones I posted will keep on giving Page Not Found errors. My fault, sorry!

Having a great time with Front Porch Forum... more than 40% of Vermont's largest city subscribes. FPF is a network of 130 online neighborhood forums that blankets our region. Loads of online communication among clearly identified nearby neighbors leads to people feeling more connected to where they live and gets many folks involved in their local communities. The conversation moves easily from the virtual to the actual front porch. Cheers. http://frontporchforum.com

I have been working on http://www.martialartslife.net - aiming to actually build a high quality martial arts community site full of useful information and people. I would say it is not as active as it could be right now mainly because it keeps getting neglected. Other (paying) projects keep taking priority.

Currently grappling with beta of http://www.complaintcommunity.com - number of challenges with technology (eg fit for purpose) aswell as user community (eg how to engage, increase awareness, create and embed a spirit of community - esp. when complaints prove to be a very personal/ parochial experience, etc, etc)
All opinions/ feedback welcome on how to embrace these challenges!

I've been working on http://www.filmblazer.com which is an online community for filmmakers only it's a little different because we actually meet our community members and work with them on a short film. We're traveling to 14 different cities in the U.S. to write, shoot, and screen a short film in just two weeks in each city and use the site to communicate among group members, blog about what's going on, and show the work of each group.
You offer great advice on community outreach and maintaining interest! Keep up the good work!
