If a super-growth idea is successful, you’ve got a stampede arriving at your online community.
That’s scary. You need to cater to these people differently.
Create a “Just arrived from…” page. Add the link from your registration form. This page brings newcomers up to speed. It highlights topical issues, it lists members they can contact for help. It offers ways these newcomers can immediately get involved. You can even discuss the informal sub-groups of your community, or running jokes.

Richard,
Chuck Westbrook did right by his community when he picked you as the next blog to feature. VERY good stuff. I am so looking forward to learning from you about building my own community as well as being part of one here. Thanks for the great work.
Together, we are stronger!

I've never heard of just arrived from page, but I love the idea. It seems easy enough to do, and could definitely turn a newcomer into a fan.

Another hello from Chucks project... I will be tripping around your blog learning more about you and probably learning more about me as well. As a person who uses blogging as a sort of journal/life share I am a bit intimidated with the blogs so far but I am tough I plan to stick around and see what I find and learn.

Hi Richard,
I recently blogged about Seth Godin's lecture in New York after seeing the video. I'm also from Chuck Westbrook's site and enjoy the biweekly celebration of new blog discoveries. I am learning a handful already! Congratulations on your selection and best wishes.
