Invite your members to review any community-related events they have attended.
People that attend events love to read reviews of it. Photos and videos are great too. The reviewer will promote the review to people s/he met at the event. That’s an immediate benefit.
But you can go one level higher.
If it’s a positive review, drop a note to the organiser and see if they might send the review to their list of attendees (and sponsors!). They can also link to it for next year’s event.
If it’s a negative review, invite the organiser to send attendees with positive opinions to give their thoughts.

It's a good idea - the strongest online communities are built around 'meatworld' relationships.
As much as I value the relationships I have with people that exist solely online, It is the people I have met offline that i spend the most time interacting with.
Making an online community a focal point for events can only make it stronger.

@David - meatworld? That's a new one to me. I have heard of 'meat market', which would be a bar full of good looking men. Hey, maybe I could find a bar full of good looking men, set up an event there, and then use Richard's idea to promote it. You know, all in the name of building online relationships of course *grin*

Hello there - this is a neato idea - most people love to say 'what they thought' about events etc and then to feed it back to the event organiser - very clever ...
I have taken the liberty of posting about you - don't fret I have lifted your own words and pic and used them :)

The more the merrier and I do have a number of gen x PRs, marketeers etc - not to be confused with musketeers - who follow the Third ... cheersle

I've got some sort of community around my blog, but it is international. So I don't really share any events with them personally. But my intention is, to share my world with the rest of the world, to show the things which are kind of special, and the things we have in common all over the world.

Ha, meatworld. What a fantastic phrase David.
UrbanPanther: At University, the job of showing new freshers to their rooms was highly sought after. Namely because people got to meet all the girls when they moved in.
Thanks le. Not sure about using my words directly though. Would be great to see how others describe me.
Ulla: Sounds perfect. So why not each write up reviews of as many events as you can each get to? It's like everyone is attending every event.
